NASA - WTF?!?

Shuttle Discovery is still good to go, despite a window covering falling off and damaging tiles.

Excuse me, but how does a cockpit window covering FALL OFF the shuttle the day before launch? It's JUST SITTING ON THE TARMAC!!!! If stuff is going to fall off the shuttle when it's NOT MOVING... well...

WTF, people?!?!?

I'm starting to think that NASA stands for "Next, Another Shuttle Accident." Uncharitable, perhaps, but, jeeeezus. I wouldn't want to go up on the damn thing when parts of the windows are falling off. Did I mention it WASN'T MOVING at the time?!?!

Great googly moogly.

"Hey, uh, guys? Uh, Mission Control? I think I'll just stay in the van, if that's cool by you..."

I want to see the space program succeed. I want to see it thrive and grow and send us amazing places. But, guys, when shit's falling off the shuttle a day before lift off, my faith is less than secure. NASA, get thy act together.

And may tomorrow's flight crew have a safe and pleasant journey.

I was unbelievably relieved to hear that the Space Shuttle Launch was cancelled today...

Honestly? I am just not up to another disaster... my calendar has been pretty full this month.

Not to mention having had the rare and wonderful opportunity to watch LIVE the last two shuttles that BLEW UP. I am not terribly keen on seeing people die in real time.

The dark, evil specter of 9/11 looms darkly over my psyche. Call me delicate.

(I saw a fiery plane explosion in 1979, too - needless to say, I am not a big fan of flight. That is why I am in great awe of your fearless Mother, the female pilot.)

I hope they delay this latest shuttle mission until they have everything bolted down and sealed well... I am all for science - but safety is the ultimate intelligence. Just my opinion, of course
