I wish I could adequately describe...

...the level of pain I'm experiencing right now.

I've been up all night. Every hour I've spent 15 minutes icing my back. My lower back is throbbing, and my left leg is numb. It's been numb since slightly before 5 o'clock yesterday evening. Out of the blue, it came on. I had felt some discomfort around 4. Even laughed with a colleague about how I had to stretch out over my desk to try to relieve some of the pressure. But that's happened before. Many times.

But it was different at 5. I shifted in my chair at work ever so slightly, and I screamed. The pain was so intense, I got dizzy. I almost blacked out. Thank god the Sasquatch could drive me home.

I'm cutting this short. This is all the time I can sit up. The computer is in the hall between the living room, bedroom, and bathroom. I really only sat down because right now I can't walk all the way (all of a few feet) without stopping to sit.

This is horrible. Very, very sincerely, I hope none of you ever has to experience this.

Right now, I wish I could mind-meld a la Spock with all the morons who have caused my accidents so they could understand what they've made me go through. And I wish this sensation - and lack of sensation - would just stop.

Seacrest, out.

While not entirely relevant to your most recent post I gotta tell you how psyched I (long time lurker, fellow DCblogs member) to see a familiar "face" commenting re: a Dr. Camina visit circa 1993 (here:http://bethesdarookie.typepad.com/br/2006/03/martha_cole_md.html). I made the mistake of going to her office today, and I assure you, it has NOT improved since your visit. Alas, far from it. I left there frustrated, without the medical attention I sought, and completely grossed out It is now hours later and I still long for a hot shower with an abrasive loofah in hopes of washing off the grossitude. What a disgusting, unsanitary office! Hope you have had better luck with doctors since... clearly, I have not!

Anyway, I'm really sorry to hear about your painful condition, and will gladly help with the mind melding.

OMG - I'm SO sorry you ended up in that skanky doctor's office. What a nightmare!! I wanted to bathe in Purell after my stop in her little clinic of horrors.

Ah, sweet memories...

Hope you are in a better state now. Sounds incredibly horrible.

I guess you are dealing with nerve injury/disc pressure...and short of heavy-duty opioids I don't know there is much you can do for relief. It sucks...

A Purell bath sounds really, really nice right about now. I don't care if it burns. The burning might actually make me feel better. Uch, what a disgusting place!!

I'm glad we both survived. Might I inquire whether you've since found a doctor who believes in the new-fangled nuances of computers and handwashing?

Cyn, it's evil again today. I'm staring at the clock begging it to move ahead a couple of hours so I can go home and become supine again. In the middle of the night, my numb leg went all crampy, and my toes were actually frozen in weird, horrible positions. And, they're doing it again this afternoon. Someone. Please. Shoot. Me. Now.

Ugh!

honeykbee - I have a great doc right off Rockville Pike & the Beltway exit for Bethesda, on Pook's Hill Road (just north of NIH by probably a quarter mile.) Her name is Irene Feldman, and she's good, mellow, and her office is NORMAL!! If you want contact details, drop me a line @ merujo@gmailDOTcom.
