Just sayin'...

If the power isn't back on in my 'hood by, oh, midnight tonight, I think dumping the rotten contents of my fridge and freezer in front of PEPCO's corporate office sounds like a good idea. Old school protest style - my Macalester grass roots are showing.

Another note for PEPCO: don't tout a phone number where folks can call and talk to an actual human to get restoration times if people are going to call in and be told, "Oh, we have no restoration time for your area. CLICK."

I have a few friends who had to dump their entire refrigerator/freezer already. I felt unsafe with about 1/4 of it and ditched it...and I always err on the side of caution, so I was lucky, I guess. I had just been to Whole Foods days before to stock up on proteins and I saw all of my freezer going in the garbage. People lose hundreds of dollars every time this happens. I got my cable back yesterday, but they never did answer the telephone. Isn't that peachy? You call about service and get a recorded message....or better you said, to check their website. I've seen those half dazed zombie people you described. It's called heat exhaustion and sleep deprivation. It's one thing to read about it, another to live it for days. And you're right--it happens too often.

Wow you guys, I am so sorry. That completely sucks. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones....this time. I hope your power comes back on soon.
