Had I not lost power, heat, light, telephone, you name it on Saturday evening, the 14 inches of snow we got would have seemed even more gorgeous. Even with the interior apartment temperature hovering in the chilly low 50s (and me coughing up a storm), I had to admit - it was beautiful outside on Sunday morning...
The deer that decided to bolt in front of me
on the street where I live (thanks, guys)

It was beautiful. And so quiet. (Except for the the sizzling and buzzing from the downed power lines, but I'll let that pass...) It was nice to finally have a little winter in our winter. Guess it's time to throw the "Happy Holiday Hearth" fireplace in the DVD player (with the "crackling fire" soundtrack, please!) and just sit back with a good book.
Stay warm, y'all!

Looks just like here, except for the deer... We've got about 6 ft of snow, I think, and it's about 10 C below zero (= 14 F). Today it's still a bit foggy, but we've had beautiful sun lately.
And yes, I'm blogging midday. I'm at home with two sick sons today, coughing their little throats sorer by the minute...
Those sunglasses are so cool. No wonder Gwen Stefani is your style twin, too! And yeah, I would choose retro sneakers any time, too.
Hope you've got heat, etc. now.
sorry about the lack of heat, etc. but those are some pretty pictures :)
while i do really dislike winter, snow is pretty when it's fresh and white...
Scholiast - SIX FEET? Awesome! I miss "real" winters like I had in the Midwest and Russia. 14 inches is huge here in DC. Sorry about the sick kidlets! I sympathize, being on week two of whatever foul winter illness I have. Hope they're doing better soon!
Reya - I love those sunglasses - they're too big for my head (which is amazing, considering the size of my noggin) and they fall off all the time, but I think they're great - Rx guys for $99 at Lenscrafters.
And, amen - I have heat again! It took my body all day yesterday at work to heat back up (plus tights and a pair of socks, a sweater and a flannel shirt, oy vey!)
Suze - I totally agree - fresh snow is so gorgeous! But as soon as the grey and the slush begins, the glamour fades. The Russians have this great word for the yuck that the snow turns to: "gryaz." Everything starting to look a little "gryazniy" here now...
Frosty on steroids is the kind of snowman I could get into making. That rocks!
