Sticker Shock
$869 in car repairs today.
Anyone want to buy some plasma or my soul?
I need a nap. Or a drink.
Maybe both.

Yikes. My car is making a chirping sound, but because I'm afraid of just this type of situation, I merely turn up the radio really loud so I can't hear the chirping anymore.
I hate to say it, but you got off cheaply. I've got one back from the shop, and one I am putting in on Tuesday. They've got you over a barrel once things go wrong.
Oh, I feel your pain. In October, I had to get new brakes, a new radiator and I ran over something in the road and it damaged my transmission....it happened in the span of 2.5 weeks. 'Bout killed me. But since then things have been ok. I always ask myself...am I paying less then I would if I had a car payment? If it is less than a car payment over several months...you are doing ok. I have 126,000 miles on my car and I am hoping to drive it for another 6-8 months..... Good luck. Hopefully that will be the end of it.
Oy vey. Take a deep breath, think about Dolby, it's just money and now your car can safely transport you from point A to point B. It's so easy for me to say this since I no longer own a car! Hope you took that nap.
Dude, that sucks. When something's wrong with my car, it's like I'm sick.
Just the other day, I was giving my dad a ride back from dropping off his car, and his first comment once we were on the road was that my car sounded loud. I didn't take it well. I think my car has always been louder than his- more road noise- but now I'm kind of paranoid.
Really, what am I supposed to say to a mechanic? Um, my car is loud, so would you like to find something wrong with it? Sigh.

Yeouch! My sympathies!
After my car's attempted suicide (yeah the one I blogged about) I'm looking at something similar in the next week or two.
